COLLECTIF ALLIER CITOYENS

Collectif Allier Citoyens is an environmental association that raises awareness and promotes responsible land planning in response to the growing pressure to expand wind energy projects. The collective advocates for balanced and community-driven development, opposing large-scale wind installations that lack coherent territorial planning and do not consider the specific environmental context of the Allier region.

Our Mission

Collectif Allier Citoyens is dedicated to protecting the natural landscapes and environmental heritage of the Allier region. Our mission is to advocate for responsible, sustainable land use and oppose the uncoordinated spread of large-scale wind farms that threaten our rural identity and ecological balance. We work to ensure citizen voices are heard and that energy transition policies are developed in harmony with local communities and their environment.

What We Do

To achieve our mission, we empower our community through several key actions:

Informing and Mobilizing: We organize public meetings, distribute educational materials, and maintain an online presence to keep residents informed about proposed projects and their potential impacts.
Conducting Independent Research: We commission and share data-driven analysis of wind energy projects, providing an objective counterpoint to developer-led studies.
Advocating for Responsible Planning: We engage directly with local officials, participate in public inquiries, and challenge projects that lack a coherent territorial plan.
Promoting Sustainable Alternatives: We research and support alternative, community-driven renewable energy solutions that are a better fit for the Allier’s unique landscape.

Upcoming Events

We believe in the power of community dialogue. We regularly host events to inform the public and unite our efforts.

Recent Event: On October 26th, we held a public forum in Moulins to discuss the biodiversity impact of a local wind proposal, with over 75 residents in attendance.

Upcoming: Stay tuned for our next citizen forum in early 2024, which will focus on legal strategies for community advocacy.

Success Stories

Our collective action yields real results. Citizen engagement is key to ensuring balanced and sustainable development in our region.

Major Victory: The ‘Forêt de Dreuille’ Project
Thanks to the tireless work of our volunteers and the compelling evidence from our independent environmental study, Collectif Allier Citoyens played a key role in the local council’s decision to halt the ‘Forêt de Dreuille’ wind farm. This project threatened a sensitive woodland area and lacked community support. This victory proves that when citizens are informed and organized, we can protect our natural heritage.
